Choosing The Right Lawn Furniture This Summer
Summer is here! Time to dust off the lawn and patio furniture for another sun-drenched, sometimes wet, sometimes hot, often stressful season out in the sun.
Over the winter, especially if left outside, lawn and patio furniture can deteriorate, leaving raveled edges, weak spots in the fabric, and even holes where the best-stored furniture was unable to escape hungry mice!
Now, before you really need to, is the best time to pull out the lawn furniture and determine whether it is ready for yet another season.
While the vinyl fabric is most common and seemingly indestructible, critters can and do damage it; soft cushions, couches, and swings should be closely inspected for damage. If it’s time to replace older, worn, or damaged lawn furniture, here are a few things to consider before making your purchase:
First, do you need mobility? Will the furniture remain stationary all season? Or, will you be moving things around for neighborhood and family gatherings? There are many, many options that include wheels for easy mobility.
What about comfort? It’s one thing to sit for a few minutes in the sun; quite another to spend an afternoon at a cookout or other gathering. And, not all lawn and patio furniture is comfortable! Waterproof cushions are available in many shapes, colors, and sizes; enough to satisfy almost any furniture seating area. Some choose cotton and other indoor-type fabrics, preferring to simply move the softer cushions indoor between uses.
