Weed Wednesday: Dandelions

Happy Weed Wednesday! This week we want to talk about one of the most common spring weeds that you’re likely seeing now; Dandelions.

Did you know Dandelions are considered a perennial weed? Why is this important?  It means that they grow from year to year and have a significant taproot.  It also spreads by sending out hundreds of seeds from every plant. Dandelions are so prolific; it is important to understand why this weed doesn’t belong in your lawn. Since the weed reproduces in 2 ways, by seeds in the spring and by spreading through the root system, it can outgrow and outcompete desirable grasses.

Many homeowners are tempted to pull this weed as soon as they see it in their lawn, but this can actually result in a larger infestation. Unless the entire plant (including the root system) is pulled, the weed will reappear and can spread rapidly in the area.  A better solution? Hire ExperiGreen to control and eliminate Dandelions along with dozens of other kinds of broadleaf and grassy weeds.

ExperiGreen’s lawn care programs will promote healthy grass and make sure your lawn is thick, green, and lush so invasive weeds just like this one won’t stand a chance.
